Getting that first sale. . . .

I have my website up and running now and am getting about 10 - 15 hits a day at the moment but still haven't had a sale and am getting a bit worried. I have reduced my postage from £3.50 to £2.50 yesterday but am worried as I am still awaiting that first sale!!!!

My business is purely internet based so I just wanted to ask anyone how long it took to get your first sale....

10-15 hits is not a lot to be honest and that might be from search engines spidering your website. I suggest you advertise on google adwords and see how that goes.Kind Regards

I have a couple of sites advertised through adwords and basically from what I've experienced (and my friends too) you have to be really patient it takes a couple of weeks to get up the ranking and for your site to start really attracting people. Keep an eye on your placing on the pace and your clickthrough rate. If a particular word has a really bad clickthrough rate get rid of it. Consider upping the spend on the ones that have a good rate to get them higher. Also have a play around with keywords (I tend to think of everything I can and shove them into google and see what it yields, then using a set of random criteria I decide if I want to add them to my keywords!).

At least if I know it takes a couple of weeks then I can stop panicking for a bit.............;) I think its just a bit stressful wondering if people are going to like your site and then if they are going to buy your things.
Looks like a few more weeks at work for me then :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
There's not a great deal you can do to get folk to buy stuff, keep doing your SEO work to encourage more visitors and you'll eventually get some sales. I had one site that was regularly getting 50-100 hits a day but didn't get our first sale for about 6 weeks.0

I seo a website for a company that ranking top 3 over past 4 years on google with over 19 million results. Its hard work, but worth the time, well to my clients anyway.Kind Regards
