Notebook Keypad wonT Type CHTV in lower Case unless using SHifT

Can anyone help? Suddenly Notebook won’t type the letters chtv unless I use Shift. This appears to only happen online ie email, google etc , as Word 2003 is working fine (had to type this in word & then paste into the post)

Have Dell Inspiron operating Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2.
Wondered if I tried to fix by using System Restore?
Any advice would be really welcome asap, as its driving me crackers.

  • Check the keyboard settings havent changed to US
  • Had already done that, it was still UK English.

Have managed to correct it by "fliddling" around with the On-Screen Keyboard - basically just hit all the Alt, Alt GR, Ctrl Fn buttons I could & low & behold it worked though how I haven't the faintest idea, just sheer luck!

Must have managed to lock those specific keys, though how I don't know either!

But thank you for your advice anyway.
