Bacs payment - weekend

I recently started to receive a company pension, but this is the first time that the end of the month is on a Sunday.
I looked at my HSBC accounts 'pending transactions' today, Thursday, but this is not showing anything.
According to HSBC pending transactions are those which will be credited/debited to my account the next working day.
Based on this, it doesn't look as though my pension will be in my account until Monday the 1st at the earliest. Is this normal??
I'm a bit confused as to when BACs can show up on an account when a weekend is involved.
Thanks for any insight.
GosPete.

  • What are the terms of your payment of your pension?

If they were to faster payment it tomorrow it would still be in before the weekend and not be showing in pending payments
  • Thanks for the answer.
I'm not sure about the T's and C's but previous payments are via BACs.
  • Could check it, normally it will say it will be sent on X and if X is a non working day that Y happens or that you will receive it no later than Z etc

My old company pays staff salaries on the 15th of the month or the last bank working day before and staff pensions on the 16th or last working day before that date. It also pays partly in arrears and partly in advance; so each month's payment is for the whole of that month. They are quite a generous company and look after staff/pensioners fairly well.

Many companies/pensions are paid in arrears, however, and on the last day of the month, or the next working day after that, in order to keep money in their account for as long as possible. The cycle probably follows that you used to be paid salary on? Did the firm pay you earlier than this if 'pay day' fell on a weekend or bank holiday?
