BIN offer - do I take?

Thread thats probably done to death, so sorry. OH no use on such things so need a friendly sounding board.

Have item on sale, put on at £5, now have 1 bid and 5 watchers. Item large/ heavy and have said collection only. However had email from someone asking if they can arrange their own courier and offering a BIN of £20. My sale s till Sunday, I obviously would like as much as poss but I would have been happy for a sale of £5 and out of the way.

One side says, lifes a gamble, if it sells for a fiver, so be it. Everyone should have a fair chance to bid, and if they dont hey ho £5 is ok, have had some great wins on ebay and share the love.

The other thinks £20 good price. Nothing exactly same selling at mo, similar range from 99p to lots more but no notable bidding.

HELP Please

If you can guarantee you can spend a day in waiting for a courier at short notice (and they actually turn up that day !), it might be worth it. Personally I'd leave it and take the risk, then you can arrange a time with a person to collect, hopefully evening, and not 9-5 all day...
  • Yes, Im thinking of the extra hassle too, as work fulltime although my 2 days off generally in week but hate waiting in for stuff.

    Thanks Vuvuzela

I think the general consensus on these boards is not to let your buyer arrange their own courier.
Should you want to accept their offer I would first look into arranging your own.

I'd let the auction run and stick to collection only.

Also don't forget that it's unwise to accept PayPal for collected items - try and get your buyer to pay by cash on collection.

If you cna wrap it and box it for a courier why not cancel current listing and relist with the courier option enabled? You'll get much more for it.

Otherwise as above, do not allow buyer to send their own courier- you have all the hassle and no protection if it gets lost or damaged.
