Dog upset over house move

Hi guys
Just moved house - have two greyhounds. Younger one isn't coping well at all - normally a very laid back dog but quite emotional/sensitive. Been crying a lot, won't go upstairs at new place, quite withdrawn.
Anyone got any ideas how to make things easier for him? Want to comfort him I guess but don't want to over do-it.
thanks in advance

Why do you need for the dog to go upstairs, if he doesnt want to, that's fine, if he's happier downstairs, isnt that a good thing.
Perhaps its the actual stairs he doesnt like, are they in anyway different from your old ones, or is the carpet different.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
It's not that I need him to go up, it's just at old house (pretty much same stairs, carpeted etc) he would gladly go up there etc.
Also he's just really bothered with the whole thing and I want to make the process easier for him.0 -
A few drops of Bach Rescue Remedy in their water every day may help. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

You seem as if you want him to though.
I understand you are trying to make things better for him but he obviously doens want to do it (yet) just give him time, he will get used to all the differnet smells, textures etc.
In the meantime, lots of walks, strokes and try to be as normal as possible, if he sees normal, he will in time be 'normal' himself.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

cool thanks guys
you're right, it must be a big shock to them, he's been in previous house 3 years. On a positive note he's loving the new garden and scenting it

I think dogs bond very closely with their homes so he will be upset at having to settle in a new place.
My son's yorkie was 14 when he went missing and we were frantic, searching everywhere for him.
O/H suggested he might've found his way back to where he'd lived 8 years ago with the family before they moved.
So we went there, and lo and behold, there he was! The new owners of the house had tried to entice him indoors but he wasn't having it, just hung around the front path all day, barking.
We were SO relieved to find him, but couldn't believe he'd found his way back there, covering several miles to do so.
Greyhounds are very sensitive dogs, but he will settle eventually.0 -
thanks for the input guys, really appreciate it.
It was the last night in the 'old' house last night - I managed to get one of those DAP diffusers and it worked VERY VERY well. So will be using it for a couple of weeks in the new place.
(My older one couldn't care less about the move as long as there's a sofa lol)
thanks again
