Nationwide soft search options

in Credit cards
i have been rejected for credit card a couple of times in the last couple of years basically due to my debt vs salary ratio. been spreading my searches out so it is not too often at the same time.
recently i have been able to shift some cc debts onto other peoples card so my overall cc debt has lowered and also i have managed to close one card down last week (have 4 now, 3 active, one inactive - didnt accept the interest hike)
i have followed the nationwide soft search approach and my quote is 15.9% with a credit limit of £2500. I know that there are loads of factors to take into consideration but does this sound like it stands me in good stead to get this card (looking at some of the responses other people have been getting and the suggested options nationwide could offer them).
i guess the only other thing i need to be mindful of is that i will be applying for a mortgage soon so i potentially dont want to harm my chances of that by applying for a card and getting declined correct?
thanks for your help!
