Espresso Maker - Still tastes 'new'

I've got a Morphy Richards Elipta Espresso Maker but despite running water through it several times it still has that horrible new kettle taste. Its not just me who has noticed it and I've tried bottled and tap water but it makes no difference.
Anyone got any ideas on how to get rid of the 'new' taste?
