The fall of my rise credit card

I have a credit card with Rise. Payment in full paid on the 14th so no need to make payment on the 30th when its due because I have already made it.

I phoned up and made the payment over the phone for £244.00 on the 14th but after phoning Rise last night as my balance was still 244.00, it seems my payment has not been posted to my account so my account is still showing a balance of £244.00. They have taken the money my bank has confirmed. She advised they still need a payment of £244.00 tomorrow (Friday) as it looks on the account like I have not paid!

I asked why this was and she advised she was unsure (I could barely hear her anyway) and that I needed to call back tomorrow. I said ‘ this is your mistake so surely you should call me?! She said unfortunately she could not. I was pretty angry.

I have made it clear I am not paying again and I suggest they post this payment to my account – they can’t have money and not post it to my account!

I don’t know what to do – I don’t want to be in a positive balance but equally do not a missed payment if they don’t post it – where do I stand legally?!

  • Has the money left your bank account?

If you do pay again, at least you can go down and withdraw the overpayment in cash as soon as you have confirmation. Faffy, I know, but at least it protects your credit rating!

When you called and made your payment by phone - did you take a reference number/authorisation number for the operative?

The person you spoke to yesterday may be unable to ensure a call was made to you today - did you ask to speak to a supervisor? Have you called today to see if the original payment has been credited to your account today?

It sounds like a small admin error on their behalf - I would call again but don't suggest you don't get angry with them, simply ask when the expect to track your payment and ask them to make a note on your account that a payment has been made and no balance is due. Get them (or a supervisor) to agree that you will not incur any fees from them and that your payment will eventually be allocated to the correct date.

They are a nightmare! I'm dealing with them now. I paid off my balance and now they won't close my account as they're saying I failed to answer a security question 10 days ago??? Yet they were able to take the payment from me without any problems.
I had to send them ID and proof of address.
I'm waiting until they "update" their system so I won't have to deal with them again.
They are useless, can barely speak English and their line is always faint.
By the way if you insist they will call you back. It all depends on who you're talking to.
    They are USELESS.
