Next directory: Ppi

Has anyone had any joy is successfully reclaiming mis-sold PPI from Next Directory?

There are a few threads on here, but all look like Next are being awkward and I can't find anything positive!

  • I am also interested to know. I have a next account since about 1990/1991 and have been charged PPI for years. Most of 90s I was a student so wouldnt have been entitled to claim on it.

I havent got the foggiest how to go about reclaiming it back.
  • I have drawn a complete blank with next - I telephoned them as was sure there was something on my account - they refused to tell me anything but they did state they had no cca for me and they sent me another to sign....bless them !!! Telephoned again they now apologised, gave me the info stating I had paid ppi from 1998 to 2011 and would send me a freepost envelope to make a complaint - how kind I thought - until I wrote the letter and they replied within four days stating nothing to do with them, basically don't contact them again and take it up with their insurers - I rang the letter writer, who spouted not regulated etc etc and also said I must have signed something in 1998 - i stated i knew i wouldn't have because I have had a pre exsisting condition since 1995 and was off work in 1995 plus 1998 and why would i sign something knowing that I could never claim - and if i had surely I would be commiting insurance fraud or along those lines - next did not want to know and stated as not regulated at that point wouldn't have to comply with anyhing and to ring insurers but again as far as they were concerned not to contact them again - contacted insurer who said let us take your name and address an we will investgate and that was that - i even had to say arn't you ging to ask me anything else and can you state i had a pre exsisting condition !!! I should have guessed at that point this was a paper exercise - and two days later to be exact the investigation was complete and guess what they weren't liable either - telephoned them and stated that they hadn't even asked anything about my claim and i was being fobbed off - was then told - that there were lots of claims with fos and basically next and insurance co are waiting for fos to make a decision on who is liable but until that decision is reached both parties are going to deny responsibility - I went straight to the fos and advise any other next customers to do the same - this is the only way a decision will be made - if everyone just gives up which is what both companies want then they can continue to fob off - so go through the process, it'll **** you off but you can then go to FOS to get this sorted - lets hope they make a decison so we can go after whoever they feel is laible

You do realise that FOS have no jurisdiction with Next PPI complaints prior to regulation in 2005? That's why you were given a swift rejection without any investigation.
Your chances of success with this are slim indeed and it will take FOS a year or more to confirm this...
  • Its not that I didn't realise the FOS bit I had before I telephoned next - though I will admit I am an amateur at all this biz - I just don't believe that either company involved should be able to fob people off like a pair of school kids with it wasn't me it was him attitude - as a result thousands of people not just me who were genuinally misold or didn't even realise the protection lose out - and when you ask either company to provide proof they use their playground tactics again so you can't even get that
