If you only need cover for a couple of days its probably not worth the costs.

Possibly cheaper to hire a reliable van, That will be covered for breakdowns anyway.

You could take out cover to start on the first day you need it. Assuming you have been over cautious and the cover isn't required, then cancel it within the cooling off period, and be left with just any admin fee to pay if applicable

(eg kwik fit recovery covers light vans and allow you to cancel without any charge (providing no claim has been made) within 14 days)
  • Do you have breakdown cover already that covers the you as the driver of other vehicles?

I am with RAC and have had them recover a multitude of commercial vehicles that I have been driven (huge extra long wheel base Transit, VW Transporter). They used to have a rule about no signwriting on the vehicle, but you can usually explain that away to the man who arrives at the side of the road as it is obvious if you are using it commercially or just moving house.....

Quentin, that is remarkably devious.. I like it!

I don't see it as devious at all.

Isn't it just another moneysaving tip?
