Just to remind you that if your car has no car tax on it, then you have to get it SORN'ed otherwise you can now get fined.

We've been with Welcome Finance for around 5 years now (on a 3 year finance agreement no doubt).
Dont believe anything they are saying and dont get fobbed off by them.
We were assigned the Peterborough branch and were harrassed daily by one person working there. He would phone me 4-5 times a day while I was at college, phone my husband at the house twice a day and he would phone relatives whos numbers he could have only got from the phone book (my husbands 86 year old grandmother who as you can imagine was terribly worried). He told me over the phone one day that he was reporting the car as stolen and having my husband arrested for car theft unless have he made an immediate payment (even though he had made a payment 3 days before). He also phoned my husbands gran with this news, his uncle and his mother. At the time my husband was unemployed but we never missed payments... they may have been a few days late for the 2 months that he was off but never totally missed one.
After complaining about the person he resigned/got fired whatever but the problems were still there. We have never had a smooth ride (ugh no pun intended) with Welcome.
When we moved from Peterborough back home to Wales they transferred the account with around £4000 put onto it (which we cant understand how it got there, even if we had charges and late fees from the 2 months he was off -which we shouldnt have had because of the job protection insurance thing we were paying for- I cant imagine it would come to that much money). It could be more as we have never recieved a full statement from them even after continually phoning and speaking to supevisors etc. After 5 years we still have £3000 left to pay on a £6000 car (in which the last year we have paid off over £1000). Trading standards are involved and are 'not amused' by them. Even the man in charge of our complaint cant get them to give us a statement! (honestly its like a hidden camera show round here lol) Todays excuse was that their computer systems are down so the trading standards guy has called an I.T repair company and is waiting at the Welcome office for them.
What makes it even more laughable was that the day we called Trading standards the branch that we were at recieved an outstanding customer service award! Leaving I think it was 150 odd people before us phoning up trading standards, I dont know how many phoned in the end. One man from my husbands work had an appointment with them which they had arranged! The reason for this appointment was because he got a car for his wife.... turned out there was something wrong with the wipers (you get a 7 day space in which to note problems with the car). Th car went into the garage and was supposed to be there for 3 weeks (for a wiper!). Car came back 3 months later. The wife was driving down the road and the wheel came off(!) and rolled down the road.. well bounced down the road from what I was told and hit another car, she lost control of her car too and hit a parked car. It was a mess as you can imagine.
Im way off the point now but you can see round abouts what we are going through with Welcome.. None of it is made up and honestly there is so much more. They are a lot of money grabbing, charlatans. If I had known we would get even a percentage of the problems we have had, there wold be no way we wold have got a car with them. I would have walked the god knows how many miles back to South Wales from Peterborough instead of giving them money!
There is a big case going on at Trading Standards now and not just with our branch but with branches across the country, phone u pyour trading standards dept and have a chat with them. I dont know if they will help your case, but if Welcome are lying to you or putting unnessessary pressure on you then TS should be interested.
I really hope something good comes of it for you because they really are a living nightmare

They have messed the court about something chronic and still no further forward now, they still have NOT collected the car and even after taking me to court then issued a default notice.i replied via letter to them re itterating their bad practice and the fact that on several occasions i have made the car available for them to collect etc etc got no reply from them.I am currently trying to sort an iva and entered this debt into the iva. Creditors meeting on 13th July will be supprised to see if they even bother to vote lol we shall see. I know how desperate things can seem to get a car but anyone reading this i would recomend all to stay away from welcome. They are a living nightmare.:T This site is great! Thanks to Martin Lewis & everyone who participates and helps so many people! Without you all, where would we be ??:T
