Debt on my account - please help

Hiya, I found out yesterday that I've not been paying enough on my monthly direct debit to cover my gas consumption - this is due to a boiler issue that meant I had to keep the central heating switched on permanently (I had all the individual radiator dials set to zero but apparently it was still costing me).

I've now got a debt of almost £600 on my account and I'm really panicking. My direct debit is set to go up now as it looks like I'm consuming more than I actually will be, but I will also have another payment to make to re-pay the debt.

Is there anything I can do, any loopholes I can exploit etc to help in this situation? x

Which supplier are you with? Do you know your 'annual review' date?

Your supplier should adjust your DD so that you repay the accrued debt over the same time period it was originally accrued.

In the meantime, as you are aware you owe quite a large sum, you could put this aside in a nice interest earning account.
You won't earn much with the current situation on interest rates ... but as a moneysaving site, every penny helps :)

Ask them to spread the payment over 1 year, nice interest free loan.
