  • I had a makeover done at Bare Minerals last weekend as I was buying some bits - they used their new Stroke of Light eye brightener on me and I was impressed. http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_123035010699_-1?breadcrumb=Home%7Etxtbare+minerals+eye
I know it was sales blurb, but the guy (yes, it was a male makeup artist) said it didn't contain highlighting pigments like YSL does which can actually draw attention to the area
  • Thanks again for all the replies!

I had a look at that video and it was very interesting. I also read some reviews on the bare minerals Stroke of Light and that's looking good!

I also just had a good look in the mirror and both of my eyes have prominent blue veins running under them with some redness in the corners :-(

Bobbi brown corrector and concealer and look at your diet again.

Firefox has posted many excellent posts about food and what we eat and should eat.

    What does LOs mean?

I use benefit boing, its really good.

Ive read the dark circles are heriditary though so all you can do is cover them up you cant get rid of them. Like a lot of stuff really!

I don't usuallt believe in or buy lotions & potions but I asked for the new Clinique Even Better Eyes as a gift, as I read some very good reviews and decided it was worth a try. My dark circle are definitely hereditary - but I have noticed a slight improvement in the last week! It may just be that they are better moisturised, but the skin is certainly firmer.

I have been meaning to get the bobbi brown concealer/corrector kit too, as I have read so many good reports on that. I need to go to a decent bobbi brown counter & check what shade I need though so haven't got round to it yet.

A few things I've done to help myself...

Use a decent eye cream. I've tried a few, not all are good as eye creams (least not good for me). The L'Oreal Youth Code is a good type, there are many others, the deal with eye cream is its thinner and also doesn't have certain ingredients which can cause puffiness. Use a good eye cream for 10-14 days to really see the results.

Use a concealer with a brush. Not a brush in the product but a separate brush, these tend to be less transparent and they also seem to stay on longer. Try to warm them up a bit before using them-and also warm the brush as it helps the concealers glide on a bit easier.
I'd agree with the above, Bobbi Brown and Benefit are both great concealers which work well.
Another few are Maybelline, Bojours (although slightly more transparent) and Mac are also great. Go with the nearest match to your skin, each brand will offer slightly different shades.

Sleeping well, drinking enough water and laying off the added salt and sugar. Too much salt will influence water retention which can lead to puffy eyes, too much added sugar and even additives can also cause water retention because your body gets a bit overloaded with toxins. Water retention can lead to puffy eyes and can also add to dark shadows under your eyes for some.

Sleeping well and drinking enough water can help your body re-establish itself but it wont cure all ills and trying to act healthier is going to get better results as your body is not always playing catch-up.

My daughter ( 25) has always suffered with this forever and we have tried everything over the years. The GP says its because the capillaries are so close to the surface of the skin.
Instead of trying to lighten the dark areas she now goes darker all over, using the Dove tanning lotion so that she has a good glow and the darkness is more blended.
I have to say though that when she is tired the darkness is more apparant.
  • Thanks again.

I've ordered a tester of the Stroke of Light off eBay so will give that a go. If no good I might try the Bobbi Brown.

I am in the process of being tested for coeliacs disease so don't know whether that can be a factor.

I gently pat my bags and lids, apply cooling eye gel in a sweeping motion and make "oooh eeee" faces for a minute to help reduce my hideously dark and puffy eye bags. No make up really does it for me and nothing touches the puffiness. Most things go into the creases and make me look wrinkly :(
I've also been tested for coeliacs but was all clear. And I really do drink a hideous amount of water, so much even my gp can't believe it.

Off topic but I wondered what symptoms you were having in order to be sent for the tests for coeliacs?
