1st car boot this weekend

hi there,
I'm having a massive clearout and have decided to do my first ever car boot sale this weekend.
I have loads of things to sell, mainly clothes and shoes. Some of the items I'm selling are in very good condition, infant some of them have never been worn. I've even got a couple of real leather bags to sell. My husband has some golfing and fishing gear too.
I am hoping to get about £5.00 for the good items and maybe £1-£2 for each of the other items but my mum says I will be lucky to get about 50pence for each of them and tells me to sell them on eBay. I have a friend who sells some things on eBay and she says I won't get much for them on eBay either.
Can anyone give me an advice?
Also, if no one minds, can you tell me the most you have made at the car boot sale?
many thanks

Maybe you picked the wrong time to do a car boot i think.
Isnt the forecast for the weekend going to be wet.

Hi, thanks for replying.
The car boot sale is indoors. My MIL says the one I'm going to do is always busy.0 -

Hi the clothing and shoes are from Next, River Island, Dune, your usual high street shops.
The fishing gear is reels and the golf stuff are golf clubs and 2 golf bags.0 -
Next clothing usually sells well on ebay so I would search on completed listings on there first. Clothing at carboots is a bit hit and miss sometimes you sell loads sometimes you sell nothing.
If you do decide to go ahead with the car boot take a cash float with you (loads of people turn up with £20 notes for a 50p spend - always check the notes), carrier bags, drinks/snacks, paste table, clothes rail, plastic sheet to put things on the floor and an extra pair of eyes to watch the people who dont want to pay anything!
I always price up our car boot stuff but put an extra 25p/50p/£1 on so there is room to haggle. Be prepared to be mobbed when you turn up and open your car. Keep anything valuable or expensive in the car until you have set everything else out.
Good luck - we did one last weekend it was freezing! Took just under £90 but the stuff we sold had already gone to a car boot a week or so ago so had been picked over and the best had gone.0 -
Try eBay first if you do a car boot make sure to have two people a big table. Change plenty of plastic bags leave your car locked while the trader come around keep an eye on your stuff and don't the good stuff too low. You'd probably get more for the clothes on eBay. Golf stuff goes well at car boots as does fishingNeeding to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans0
