Tins should stack on one another

About 50% of tins in this country are fine. The other 50% are evil nuisances. Why? You can't stack 'em.

Guilty parties so far:

Tesco value pineapple
Tesco value baked beans
Tesco value chopped tomatoes
Heinz baked beans
(list under construction)

Come on people, is this really so hard.

The pressed aluminium tins generally stack perfectly because they can be easily made to do that.

The cans formed from sheet steel generally don't as they have a rim at the top and bottom that is a necessary artefact of the manufacturing process.

I suspect that aluminium is not suitable for products that are significantly acidic.

Don't forget the Uranium-235 tins, they don't stack very well at all.

You can do the same thing cheaper by putting a coaster between the cans. Glue two together if they're not thick enough, cut down to size if too big.
