I was working on my Dell Windows 7 laptop this evening and it crashed and rebooted. It then went through chkdsk and now every time I reboot, it says "You have been logged on with a temporary profile" and I don't know what to do as I can't access any of my files.
Any ideas?!?

I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0

Before doing anything I would try a system restore

System Restore doesn't work.
Have tried those early steps in post #2 but all that seems to have happened is that another bak file has been created and I still can't access any of my files.0 -
Boot the computer, as soon as it is ready hit the start button and in the search box enter the words event viewer and hit return.
When it appears choose Windows logs and then system and scroll down until you find what will probably be a yellow warning icon next to what will probably say in source 'windows logon service'. Copy and paste the information in the box below as it should tell us why it is having trouble loading the profile.
To be honest the backup profile issue is quite common and the steps you have tried will usually fix this but event viewer may be able to shed a little more light on things.0
