Working tax credits, housing benefit and council tax help!,,

Hi everyone! New here and have read through a lot of posts regarding benefits etc.
I hope someone can advise me! So, I'm 23 and a single mum but live at home with my mum still! She's on carers allowance and cares for my disabled sister so gets housing benefit etc. etc.
So, I'm starting up self employed within a matter of days and my lone parent advisor is sorting out my wtc, in work credit etc. she said she would fast track my claim, but how long realistically will it take?
Also, nobody at the jobcentre or anywhere can give me a straight answer on housing benefit and council tax. Because I live at home with my mum she claims hb and ct, so what do I claim? I will be on a low income at first about 200-300 pm as is a new business but am scared i will be stung with huge amounts to pay towards rent, we're in rented accommodation at 1100 pm so hopefully you will understand my concern! :)
Any advice will be much appreciated!

Assuming she is the tenant, you are not entitled to housing benefit as you have no liability to pay rent - her HB will be based on the number of people/sexes/ages of the property in the usual way Local Housing Allowance is worked out - to identify the maximum rate, see the direct gov website or local council website. AFAIK, same with council tax (you aren't liable if you aren't the tenant).

What happens when an adult child is in the property is that there may be a non-dependent deduction from her HB and CT and this shortfall is something for you to sort out between you, such as you paying keep towards household expenses. It's on a sliding scale, depending on your income and tends to be a small percentage of employment income or benefits.

Find the non-dependent deductions table on your local council - some non-dependents are exempt depending on the benefits they receive, some tenants also face no deductions, depending on the benefits they get. Find this table.

    So found the table..
They don't seem to take my income into consideration? It's just a25% adult rebate. Is this right? I won't even be making that per month??

....just found a different table that explains it better, thank you for your help

A sample table is here and shows a modest deduction in your mother's council tax and housing benefit for you to make up

    http://www.hackney.gov.uk/f-non-dependant-deductions.htm

Gross income below £124= £11.45 deduction from HB.

Gross income: less than £182.99 = £3.30 deduction from CT

    That's £14.75 per week.

Yes my mother receives carers allowance and care component

Ever so sorry, I misread that table and it was 'DLA care component', not CA. I edited my post but it looks like you spotted my false info first.

(To other people, I thought there would be no deduction because of the mother's CA but it was actually DLA on the table).

So unless I've misread once again, your mother is set to lose nearly £15 a week from her HB/CT because of your employment income but do double check this.
