Bt - charge for duplicate bill

We have a purely online account with BT. When checking our last bill I noticed a charge for £4.80 for a duplicate bill requested on 13th August.
I called and disputed and the customer service rep said they would have to check the phone conversations. He gave me a reference number.
Then, today, I got an e-mail saying my account had changed to online and paper billing.
I called again, and the indian call centre lady said it was an error, and so was the duplicate bill.
Has this happened to anybody else ie. are BT randomly charging customers for duplicate bills and hoping they won't notice?
