Getting a puppy for my aunt

If my dog died I wouldn't be ready for another dog for quite a while and when I was I (we) would want to choose the dog. Please don't do this!Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0

Agree with chucknorris. There's a multitude of reasons why you shouldn't go straight out and get a dog when you've lost one. I was 18 months between Oakley and the dog I had before him. 3 + months of that was researching breeders!0

Or this site if your further North!
I think Duke looks like a right cheeky chappy!

I live in a 1st floor rented flat, work full time often 12 - 14 hr days, but what I would give to come home to a doggy cuddle each evening.
When (note, not if) I win the lottery I will purchase a home in the Lake District with a few acres and have 6 dogs, 4 labs and 2 springers.
I have even named all them in my day dreams

ahh thats sweet, I'm the same, rented flat, wouldn't be fair to get one as out at work all day, but what I wouldn't give to come home to doggy cuddles, I'll just have to make do with my husband instead, bah !'' Ok Marge, if anyone asks, you require 24-hour nursing care; Lisa's a clergyman; Maggie is seven people and Bart was wounded in Vietnam ''0 -

No husband here, think I'd rather have a dog lol0 -
I was given a surprise pup. I lost my heart dog Ailsa over 5 years ago when she was killed by another dog, my family went behind my back to get me a pup from the same breeder. I adore Arran but it took me a while to bond with him, a lot longer than I think it would have taken if I'd decided for myself that I wanted him. I can't comment on whether your doing the right thing or not but I think I would have much preferred the Gift Voucher and had the excitement of going through the whole thing with my family.0

I bought a dalmation pup for my Aunt a couple of months ago. I knew she'd say no if I asked her if I could buy her one as she wouldn't want me paying, so I went about it a different way. I asked her if she wanted a puppy, if she had the time and patience for a puppy, her answer was yes she'd love one but hasn't got that kind of money at the moment. My aunt(well whole family) had a rough year, lost my Nan, there had been lots of family arguements and I wanted to cheer my aunt up. After she had said that she would like one I showed some pics of a litter told her I was buying one for her, she didn't really agree at this point because of me paying but then when she was looking at the pics she noticed one of the pups looked like it had my aunts initials on its back, she took this as a sign that she was meant to be. She is so pleased she said yes and the pup has cheered her up so much and got her going out again.
Sorry I've gone a bit off subject but what I'm trying to say is it can still be such a lovely gift but it doesn't have to be a suprise just incase she really doesn't want a puppy, they are such hard work.0
