I am aware that there are many different versions of what office tools are installed in various PC bundled software. As the OP said that he is not techie, so shirley it's better to look for something that may be pre-installed in the first instance.johnnyboyrebel wrote: »PowerPoint only comes with office pro generally. For home use people would generally have the standard version.
The next bit about having an office Disc is a long shot, but if he has one it's a lot better than downloading/ buying other products.
Until we get feedback from the OP then we're stuck

In fact Office 2010 Professional Plus is £8.95 under the Microsoft Home Use Program if you download it, and don't want to buy the backup DVD.InsideInsurance wrote: »I second checking with your employers for the Home User Program as you can get Office Pro for circa £150 -
If your children are learning MS PowerPoint, then there's no point getting a compatible system such as LibreOffice. Files may optionally be compatible but the interface is different and it will confuse beginners having to switch between the two.
Software4Students offer Office 2010 Pro for £79.95, but as already said, check if your employer has it and with a licence that allows you to install it at home.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If this forum was more 'open minded' I would arrange to send the op a full working, activated version of office pro 2010

You can use Powerpoint online for free using Skydrive......
Create new documents in your browser- Go to http://skydrive.live.com and sign in with your Windows Live ID. If you don’t yet have a Windows Live ID click Sign up to get one.
- At the top of the browser window, click the kind of document that you want to create: Word document, Excel workbook, PowerPoint presentation, or OneNote notebook.
- Type a name for the document, and then click Save.
The document opens for editing in the appropriate Web App.

Whilst you provide a little more detail, on how to access it (which is already on that website anyway), http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=56135695&postcount=10 already covers this option.
