Have you seen this letter ?
They cant just make anyone a guarantor without asking you and asking the 1 to be a guarantor.
Have you asked how or why they came to that conclusion re the guarantor ?
  • No I am collecting the letter later tonight and wanted to get a little background on where I stand with there actions before dealing with them in the morning.

So basically speaking they are not allowed to do what they have and this should not affect the other persons credit raiting or bank balance?

No chance. You need to see this letter first to see what it actually says.
  • Thanks guy's its good to know that they can't do what they have done!

I will keep you updated on what the letter says when i finally get a look/told exactly what it says!
  • Surely thats going against data protection!

I feel your pain. I too have got stuck on the wonga rollercoaster and can't get off. So easy done due to unexpected circumstances.

You start off with the best intentions, plan to pay it back and then something happens beyond your control.

To the posters with nothing constructive to say, don't say nothing at all. Times may not be so bad for you but they are for others. Peoples circumstances change quickly and with no warning.

Sorry I have no advice for you but I wouldn't be happy either if my neighbours were firstly told about my debts and then given the responsibility to pay. It has nothing to do with them either! Imagine being asked to pay a neighbours bill  I'd be fuming from both sides.

  • Cheers that was a litlte pick me up :)

Well it all started due to Wonga trying to take £800 on a day when they were only meant to take £250 and its spiralled from there!

But this is just not fair on my ex-neigbours!

    Correct.

Assuming that you and the neighbour didn't give consent for the neighbour to be a guarantour. You didn't do this, did you?
Did the neighbour provide a "reference" for you?

When it comes to PDL companies, Wonga normally appear to be the best of a bad bunch. Doesn't sound like the sort of trick they would pull.
Don't forget to come back when you have the letter to tell us what it says...
