Question about Motability

Hi all
Hope you can help?
My present movability car is finished in Sep '13. When do I start looking and applying for a new car? I don't want to stick with the same garage this time, so can any one advise?
Do I wait until I have to give back, and be without transport until I find one and they have it ready for me? or can I look and sign for a new car before and if so, how long?
Cheers

Motability will send you a letter 3 months before the end of your lease, you can start looking before that but you can only preorder in that 3 month window.
If the car you order takes longer to arrive, Motability will extend your current lease.
You will not be without a car.
Also, you hand your old car back to the dealer you are getting your next car with (not your current dealer).
My previous car was a Nissan Qashqai, and this time I went for a Ford CMax.
I ordered 6 weeks before the end of my lease date, and Motability were fine with extending my current car for an extra 2 weeks.Unite Disability Champion & Equality Rep0 -

You also have to have at least 12 months of your high rate disability allowance to run when you change.0

You should receive a new claim form for DLA before xmas, and when you return it hope you get it again,do send it back as soon as possible as there is I believe quite a waiting list before your form will be looked at and if you are unfortunate to be still awaiting a decision when next may comes you will have to return the car you have as motability have tightened up a lot now and are not as willing to let you keep a car until you hear about your new claim.Best of luck anyway.0
