Landlord running a business from a tenanted property?

We have a feeling that our landlords may be running a business from the property we rent from them, although we haven't looked into the ownership of the business so we're not certain yet. Is this allowed?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Define 'running' ....
Is the landlord depositing and uplifting goods/stock from your home on a regular basis?
Do you regularly receive mail addressed to a company name?
???0 -
No, there are no goods involved. It's a service and it receives a fair amount of mail. Sorry to be vague, I'm a bit nervous of being too specific on here as she's quite a difficult character and I don't want to be in a position where she could make our life more difficult that she already does.
I just wondered if there was any blanket 'rule' that this was not allowed, at least without permission from the tenant.0 -
There may be taxation/ business rates type issues. Ask the landlord to redirect their mail/ inform their clients of the new address, or simply return everything to sender.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Will do. Thank you!0

So what's been happening to the mail for either the landlady or the business name in the past? Have you been dutifully keeping it and either waiting for her to collect it, or been taking it to her?0

Put mail back in post-box with "not known at this address" on it

That's a great way to build up a trusting relationship with the landlord!
There is a good chance that the landlord previous lived at the property herself and operated the business from there (perfectly reasonably). However if she had sold the property she wouldn't expect to be able to continue receiving mail there, and nor should she now she has a tenant. Ask her nicely to have her mail redirected.Note: Unless otherwise stated, my property related posts refer to England & Wales. Please make sure you state if you are discussing Scotland or elsewhere as laws differ.0 -
We've just been putting the post to one side and they collect it when they do their oh-so-regular property inspections to make sure we haven't changed anything, moved anything or even touched anything.
Thanks everyone for your advice.0 -
How often are these inspections?0

You have the right to quiet enjoyment of YOUR home, you do not have to agree to oh-so-regular intrusive inspections.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
