Does anyone know any good pubs to go to for lunch on BH Monday. Wanted one overlooking the River Thames, preferably with some parking nearby. Dont mind how far out of London (westwards) we go, but not Richmond or Kew as they are lovely but too touristy

Old Isleworth is nice... might be a bit far out for you though
I think it was a pub called The Wharf we used to frequent when we were at college.
Nope, tell a lie, it's the Town WharfMost things in life are beyond our control, for everything else there is a spreadsheetson#1 born 04/01/09

In Docklands (E14):
Gordon Ramsey's newly opened "The Narrow Street Pub and Dining Room" in Limehouse comes to mind. Haven't been myself yet and can't find exact post code, but there was a very favourable review the other day in one of those free papers. Said to have an authentic pub feel, great river views and is not a gastropub.
Nearest DLR station Limehouse, Narrow Street isn't far
If you want a fancy gastropub, The Gun comes to mind. It's said to have won awards.

If it doesn't have to be a pub: There is an excellent Thai restaurant called Elephant Royale on the Isle of Dogs with fabulous view over the river towards the Maritime Museum.

E14 3AN, nearest DLR station Island Gardens
Comes with large private car parkReclaimed thanks to this site:

The Dove, Upper Mall Hammersmith, though its a bit small. The Ship Inn, Thames Bank Mortlake, by Chiswick Bridge. There are three pubs on Strand On The Green; The City Barge, The Bulls Head, and the one I prefer, The Bell and Crown. The last three pubs are near Kew Bridge.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

Thanks everyone, I had forgotten about the Town Wharf - used to go there before I was married.
I hadnt thought about docklands but the elephantroyale looks interesting - will have to see if they are open as I think docklands is pretty dead over BH's0 -
They are always open! Their Sunday Buffet is scrumptuous.
Don't mistake Docklands for Canary Wharf! And if you want hustle and bustle, go one more stop from Island Gardens, and you are over the river in Greenwich. You will fall over the tourists. Then again I thought you said you didn't want tourists.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Thanks Beate, I know Canary Wharf and Docklands quite well as my husband used to work near Mudchute. Since he left I havent been near there. The friends we are going out with said they would like to have lunch near the water, thats why I originally thought of pubs on the Thames.0

I was in Isleworth yesterday. The London Apprentice and The Town Wharf were not overcrowded at lunch time. In fact the latter was quite empty, considering that it was a sunny day.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0

The Ship in Hammersmith ( as earlier mentioned ) is a good spot and child friendly as well.
Just by Barnes Bridge is the Old White Hart.
Haven't been there in some time but really nice on a great sunny day, picnic tables on the towpath.
A lot further past Richmond is the Magpie in Lower Sunbury.
If you can get a seat outside and the sun is shining it's great, serves your usual standard pub grub but last Thursday lunchtime I waited 45 mins for fish'n'chips! Oh well, just had to drink a bit more in that time

The Town of Ramsgate is very good. Good food. Family run pub. There's bags of parking in Wapping too.0

COme out proper West and look at Henley-on-Thames (where I live). We have the Angel on the Bridge which has a deck that actually juts out over the river and the food is good. Just come in via Marlow to avoid the queue on Remenham Hill. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
