freebies for quotes

My home insurance is due and I will be searching for the best deal.
Are there any sites, etc. that offer freebies for getting a quote, not reliant on actually taking out their insurance?
Also would it be any cheaper or even beneficial to get separate quotes or insurance for contents and building insurance?
And are there any companies that deal with pensioners that are actually cheaper, for instance SAGA came out as one of the more expensive companies last year.
Just had a letter from them, quoting, based on last years information, £158.
Even Aviva was cheaper last year but since I used to work for Aviva and was made redundant by them I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
And yes I would cut off my nose to spite my face.

If you've worked for an insurer you will know that for Home in particular the level of cover can vary massively so ensure you are comparing VALUE and not just PRICE!
You are unlikely to get any free gifts just for asking for a quote on Home insurance, the margins arent in it.
It sometimes is cheaper to buy contents and building separately, sometimes cheaper to buy it combined so can be worth doing quotes. Of cause if you have an incident that effects both (eg flood) having separate policies can be a pain because you then have two companies to deal with rather than just one.0 -
Quidco will give you cashback for going via a couple of the compare sites.
Other cashback sites are avaiable. But have no idea if they do.
From my experiance with Saga and my parents.... They seem to be ripping the old off, not making it cheaper.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

If you've worked for an insurer
I might have worked for an insurer but I had nothing to do with insurance, Aviva does or did a lot more than just sell crappy insurance.
And when I worked for it it was called GA.0 -
Simply for quotes and not buying
You used to get a pen just for phoning up and asking for a form to fill out and send back.0 -
