Thick question re a water tap outside

Be careful of outside taps. We've just had experience of ours flooding kitchen.

We noticed laminate flooring was curling up. Lifted some of it and found floor underneath soaking. Eventually traced source to outside tap. Pipe to tap goes through outside wall of kitchen. Tap outside has special lagging jacket and showed no sign of leak, which was at base of tap. Water had run back into kitchen through wall hole, along pipe behind sink and run off pipe onto floor and spread under flooring using the foam underlay. Don't know how long this had gone on for but we have had to relay floor.
