BA Connect flight rescheduled

Hi,
I have been a victim of BA Connect rescheduling my flight following its sale to FlyBE.
On January 3rd, I purchased 2 tickets for flight BA1662 flying from Manchester to Milan, Malpensa on April 10th. This was the first step of a journey to Palermo for our honeymoon and as British Airways do not fly to Palermo, I booked the connecting flight with EasyJet, flight EZ4471.
On Sunday 11th March, I received an e-mail informing me that BA1662 had been cancelled and that we had been transferred to BA4754. Unfortunately this does not arrive in Malpensa until 17:45 which does not allow sufficient time to connect with the EasyJet flight which leaves at 18:25.
Following an exchange of letters with BA Customer Services, their only offer was a 7 am flight and 8 hour stop over in Milan which was not acceptable to me on the night after or wedding. They have no further offer and say it is not their responsibility .... basicaly Tough Luck !
I have now booked a later flight out of Milan at a cost of £175 and wondered if
a) I have any grounds to reclaim this from BA (or FlyBE)
b) The best way to go about this as Customer Services have made it clear that the matter is closed.
Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks ..... 1876

You should be able to cancel your BA flight and get a full refund, and put it towards a better time flight (if there is one).
But getting BA to put money towards your Easyjet flight? Not a chance. They have done everything they legally have to in offering you an alternative.0
