Sandtander Bank Charges

Hi There Everyone!

Looking for a bit of advice of what (If anything) I need to do/know in terms of reclaiming unfair charges.

Long story short I had an under 18s santander account which I didn't use anymore that when I moved out for Uni was left back at home in my mums purse. By accident my mum used my card instead of her own card in the supermarket and caused an unarranged overdraft of £30. I didn't know anything about this and was not receiving paper statements. As a student in my first year I didn't look at my credit file at all and only came to realise the problem in June of last year. I have subsequently paid it off in full... However in the end a build up of charges on the account had taken the debt to be over £700 for a charge of less that £50, therefore it was just charges upon charges.

Do I have any case against this? And if so what do I need to do to get started?

Thanks,

Emma

Sounds like you may have a claim against your mum, but it does seem such a coincidince that you and her have the same PIN on your individual cards.

Or did you disclose your PIN to your mum? If so, I don't think you will get very far with the bank, sorry.
(If that's the case, I'm not sure how your mum used your card "by accident")
