ESA changed its criteria from neing able to walk to 'mobilisation.

it seems more likely than not, that UC will stay along these lines.
so being unable to walk, will mean little. if they consider that you are capable of self propelling a wheelchair .... even if you dont have a manual wheelchair and have never tried to use one ... you will be considered 'mobile.

considering that both UC and PIP start taking effect next year.... it is disgraceful that there is so little 'confirmed' information in place.

i have no physical disabilities at all. in fact i'm physically in far better shap than ive ever been .... thanks to the wellness programme at the gym, and an over sealous PA! lol

but can i move from one chair to another? yes, if someone shows me where the second chair is!

on paper, PIP looks like it will serve ME better. but theres so klittle solid information .....

Many thanks I understand now, I will most likely end up getting put on JSA which I won't receive anyway because of my savings.

I'll have to wait and see what happens...
  • EDIT:
When they do these new medical assessments do they take into account pain and practicalities? For me because of the trouble with my legs I can't sit for much longer than an hour in a wheelchair. Then I have to slide out of it, and flop onto the floor to stretch my legs out. At home I don't sit on furniture or even the sofa, I drag the sofa cushions onto the floor and lie on them. Just wondering???

Being unable to sit for periods may gain points.
    As may other things related.
Study the descriptors posted in the thread, and carefully consider each ones applicability.
