Sainsbury's application failed?

I went through the Sainsbury's Nectar credit application online on Sunday night. At the end it had a "Decision" page, which actually didn't say anything conclusive. It sounded like they had to do further checks.

I haven't had any email confirmation of the application or any credit searches recorded.

Even though there was a decision page I wonder if the application didn't even complete. Should I apply again?

I would contact them and ask them to confirm if your application has been received before you take any further action.

I've had this before (no instant email and a wait for further checks decision) and normally get contacted within 1 week. I think it goes to an underwriter as it doesn't qualify for automatic approval. In my case, normally because I'm flying a kite with 5 other credit cards open or one too many applications
  • They hadn't received any application. Same happened second time round... Looks like I'll have to apply by phone.
  • Third time lucky. I have a search on my Experian report. Still no email confirmation though, which is unusual...

Oddly my credit score has gone UP since the search - now at 978.

It's not a very accurate reflection but can be used a rough guide. I think unless you have 3+ searches in the last 6 months, there is no affect on your perceived score

Credit score doesn't mean anything it's a made up number by Experian! Each lender will use the data set and apply their own criteria to it.

If you are applyimg for the new Nectar credit card with the ten times points bonus for three months be aware it is for new Sainsbury credit card customers only.
