Great winter boot hunt

I have some goretex leather boots from Clarks and they are the only thing I wear in the winter! Not cheap but genuinely waterproof:

I can vouch for these http://www.clarks.co.uk/p/20347845
I bought them last year using a glitch with codes and managed to get it for approx £50 instead of £79.99. I definitely got my monies worth.
I'm not one for wearing heels but these were so comfy! 2 of my friends have even bought them this year.
Will definitely be purchasing again this year0 -
I was like this last year, previous years I bought boots from cheap places and clothes shops, but one pair fell apart in 2 months, the other pair had a plastic heal and rubber sole and I kept falling over in them when I walked over drains, and they were flats!
So I bought som Doc Martins. If you don't like the patent ones try these:

Thank you for all the replies!
To answer floss's questions - I think black leather is probably the safest bet and I like low heels (not totally flat but definitely no more than 2 inch heel) because I walk quite long distances some days and really hate sore feet!
I'll go to clarks and see what they have this year but the last few pairs of shoes I've had from there I've been quite disappointed with. Maybe I'll have better luck with boots!
I didn't realise doc martins do other styles so I'll see if I can find somewhere near me that carries their stuff. I last had docs when I was about 14 and they were the most comfortable thing ever! (but not really appropriate for grown up me and work!)Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
M&S - especially the wide fit ones (these look nice and have good reviews http://www.marksandspencer.com/Wide-Pointed-High-Button-Boots/dp/B003VFZAD8?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_6&nodeId=835440031&sr=1-6&qid=1348742671&pf_rd_r=14GVVH0VWT6CAR069GTQ&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=321381407&pf_rd_s=center-3)
Bought some suede ones in Dotty P's last year which were like slippers - unfortunately, they lasted about as long as slippers would have too! Wore out in several places.
Think I need some decent boots this year too. Fed up of replacing them every year where I wear them to death! Loving the Timpsons suggestion, Floss2

I've just seen these that I like the look of...

I've never heard of the brand before though so I think I'll have to find a debenhams that stocks them to try them on and see what the fit/quality is like.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0
