not happy with british gas

I changed over to british gas from southern electric. I was paying £39 for gas and £45 for electric. British gas had me paying £38 for each which I thought was good. Yeah until I had been with them for 9 months and now I owe them going into the winter :(

I phoned them up to see if something was wrong as I had used nearly £75 gas in 3 months over the summer. I have never had my heating on at all in those 3 months and the only gas is the hot water. Does anyone else think that this is high? I dread to think how much it's going to be in the winter! Wish I never changed now.

Are you billed to estimates and are they higher than your meter shows?

Have they applied the imperial or metric calculation correctly and does it match the type of meter you have?

Did they use the switch reading you gave? If not, its a Deemed reading which could be too low hence squeezing more consumption into the new suppliers side of the bills.
