Buying a new car and dealer has asked i pay using a credit card. Would this be better than using a debit card?

Not if your credit limit isn't high enough.0

Sounds crazy, use a debit card and it costs the dealer 30p, use a credit card and it costs him 3% of the value of the car.
Having said that, it's always worth paying some of the cost of a car on credit because it give you s75 protection should there be problems in the future0 -
If you have a CC with 0% for say 15-16 months use it. You will be charged a surcharge but will have 15 - 16 months to pay it off without incurring any further charges. If it is a large amount then you can then do a balance transfer, up to 22 months 0% all for the price of the transfer rate, currently about 2.88% per transactionIf youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

Capital One card (even after initial 3 month period) gives you 1% return so say a new £10,000 car will mean a further discount of £100 + benefit (protection) of using a CC.0
