I have given a reply to your other post. As I stated, my friend had such an interview last week and the whole thing was professional and businesslike.
My friend is a Greek national and has been married to a UK citizen for over 20years and they have just returned to the UK after living for the whole time in Greece.
The NI no was given without problem and consequently JSA and HB and Council tax exemption were allowed. The Greek lady has now had a job application confirmed - the employer was concerned about the lack of NI no.
As an aside, you should know that MSE contributors are under no obligation to reply to any post. Indeed, they must actually notice the post, have some knowledge or view on the subject matter and then feel inclined to post. If no-one replies, it simply means that the above has not been fulfilled - don't take this personally as MSE posters are generally a friendly and helpful bunch.
There is another quaint little custom here. It is considered etiquette to press the thanks button if a poster has given some helpful information no matter how small."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools"
