New job but help needed please.

Think i asked this in the wrong place
Ive been offered a job with a new Morrisons that's being built at the moment. I was hoping for full time but they have offered me 15.5 hours pw.

There is no way am i turning this offer down BUT i have a mortgage and the usual bills to pay. I'm on JSA at the moment, so if this stops once i start working is there anything else i can claim?

Thank you

You can model the impact of this on the Turn2us online benefit calculator, perhaps you are due some council tax discount.

You won't have any entitlement to tax credits which is the main way low earners top up their low wages. The smallest amount of hours per week is 16 (set for lone parents).

I can't help that 15.5 hours threshold has been set to deter lone parents from applying who are the keenest to work 16 hours and get working tax credits?

    Thanks BigAuntie

It could be i suppose but really doesn't help the likes of me being an older person, kids grown up ect :(. Althought i'd take on any offer of overtime i can't be guarenteed that i'd get it every week to make my money up.

Thanks for that turn2us site, i had a look at the calculator and it does say i'd be entitled to a little help with council tax.
