Firstly you need to work out whether you need it.

What does your employer offer in terms of

    sick pay
permanent health insurance (for income NOT medical operations)
    redundancy

If you are very lucky you might not need seperate insurance because you may already have sufficient insurance from your employer.

How many dependents do you have?
How easy would you find it to get a similar job in your field?

Only once you have all this information can you decide whether you need it or not (not just beause someone else said so).

ive been looking into this also and had a mortgage for the past 4 years. Ive been paying roughly £60 a month for 4 different polices covering all the above. I got chatting to lots of other ppl at work and friends and was surprised that many font have any policies!! I'm 28 single and no dependents. My work also pay insurance if I die and I get sick pay for a year so Ive just cancelled my critiical and term insurance saving £30 a month
