Car recommendation for motorway use (£5k-7k)

You didn't mention what size you wanted (physical size, not engine size).

I'd second the Mondeo recommendation but you've got suggestions on here ranging from a Golf to a Mondeo in size which covers pretty much the whole span apart from superminis.

How many people will be in the car? How much boot space do you need? How spacious do you want the interior?

I love our Mondeo for motorway cruising. Just effortless. And we can fit our excessive amounts of luggage in the boot without having to leave anything on show in the back at services. It is however about the size of a cruise ship.

We have a 10-plate 2.0 TDCI Zetec (can't remember whether the Zetec or Edge trim is higher).

Agree with the earlier comments re mileage. Especially if you want a modern diesel that will have a DPF. The last thing you want is one that's just plodded round town.
