Switching Supplier/Warm Homes Discount

I am currently halfway through switching my electricity supplier. I am in receipt of Guarantee Pension Credits which entitles me to Warm Homes Discount
When I initiated the switch, I forgot to ask about WHD, but I checked my account with my existing supplier today, and WHD was credited 10 days ago - phew!
I wonder what would have happened if I had switched a couple of months ago
As soon as my switch is complete, I will call DWP to make sure that next year's WHD will not be lost!

No, it's another £130! Actually, I thought it was £120 last year, but I'm not totally sure0 -
Not sure what you mean by another £130 the only scheme I know of is the warm home discount which is £130 and there are certain criteria to meet

I meant to say that we had one payment last year, and another payment this year0 -

Well that's ok then. thanks...
The qualifying date for WHD is in the summer - if I had changed supplier in the meantime, then how would I have received my money?0 -

you wouldn't get it. once the deadline has passed the new supplier cannot register you, and the old provider does not have to pay you as they only get allotted money per active account.0 -

You may be right, but I am not convinced - my reading is that the supplier at the time of the deadline is obliged to pay the discount - my worry is that they would have lost my bank details if I had ceased dealing with them in the intervening few months0 -

- you're wrong my friend, its applied at the 'end point'
- otherwise someone with an annual bill of £1k could change supplier 7 times a year
- and get an annual bill of £0.000 [Zero]
- or change 8 times, pay £0.000 [sod all] and get a rebate of +£125.00
You are entitled to 1/12th of £130pa paid at £10.83pm in a 12 month cycle, regardless of when it starts / ends. If you've found a loophole, I for one hope the industry has protected itself otherwise the 'energy poor' for whom this huge financially beneficial help was designed will be brought into disrepute.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I'm sorry but I simply do not understand your post - how is it possible to get a year's worth of energy free of charge simply by frequent switching?
My understanding is that the qualifying date for a whole year's WHD is in July - but the money is not paid until later in the year - I have not seen any mention of a monthly rate0
