Credit card receipts and PIN terminals

Hi all

I have a brief question concerning credit card receipts.

I was in a restaurant today and paid for my meal with a credit card. I used the electronic chip and PIN device to pay for my meal.

By mistake, the waitress gave me both the cardholder and customer copy of the receipt.

Can please someone tell me whether or not this will make any difference? That is will I or won't I get charged?

Thanks very much

  • You get charged when you confirm your pin on the machine. The receipt is basically just a hard copy proof to both restaurant and customer that that amount has been paid.

  • Yep, don't worry. Your payment will be safe, you don't need to go back to pay in person or go to the trouble of writing a cheque.
