mmm sardine sandwiches. When I was pregnant I ate sardine and avocado sandwiches. Sounds revolting but they are gorgeous and I still eat them like that now![/QUOT

Yes, that sounds so revolting that it is probably delicious ;)

  • I like sardines in tomato sauce, mashed up and put in in sarnies with laughing cow lite cheese spread - lush! Also nice with Mackeral in tomato sauce.

try some chopped pickled beetroot, better (imho) with the not too sweet kind

sardines mashed with a good dash of malt vinegar, salted & peppered, served on toast topped with aforementioned beetroot, delicous :)

good (& cheaper) with pilchards too

Mash them up with salad cream. My dd loves them with or without.

I have just found what I can only describe as a small shoal of tinned sardines in the back of the cupboard. Not too sure about some of the above recipes, though ...

Mash equal quantities of sardines and butter, season and use to fill baked spuds, or toss into hot pasta ;)

They all sound a bit fishy to me. :D

I only like them in the tomato sauce but am tempted to try them with avocado. We have a huge communal avocado true opposite us and always looking for ways to use them.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)
