Sardine sarnies what can you put with them?

Sarnies or butties,whatever you call them.I love sardines but havent got any inspiration for what else to mix with with on a sandwich.Any ideas?

    I just had some (thanks for the reminder that I had some on the cupboard:j )

    Ok I know its sounds disgusting but I like mine with a pickled onion sliced up on top:o

    My mum always used to bone them first, then roughly mash with a good slosh of malt vinegar. A slice or two of tomato on top and there you go.

    My eldest daughter prefers to do similar with pilchards but in that case adds a good dollop of mayonnaise.

    Yes, eat the bones ;)

    Mash up with a splash of Worcester sauce, some chopped onion, salt and pepper. Make into sandwiches with cucumber slices.

    mmm sardine sandwiches. When I was pregnant I ate sardine and avocado sandwiches. Sounds revolting but they are gorgeous and I still eat them like that now!

    My mum would fry some tomatoes and onion with a bit of salt and pepper to go with sardines. Lovely.
