Whats my chances?

I had a credit card from LloydsTsb ten years a go when i was just 18. I was paying ppi on it for approx 18 months until my mum explained what it was and that i probably couldn't benefit from it as i wasn't working so i cancelled it. The card account was closed back in 2006 but today iv rung LloydsTsb and told them I never knew what i was paying for and believe I should be repaid that money. They are going to investigate it and I will get a response within 8 weeks. I have no paper documents relating to when I was paying the PPI and it probably wont come to more than a couple of hundred pounds, do i stand much chance of getting anything back?

Depends on whether they still have records. many of the banks/card providers destroy records on closed accounts after 6 years.

  • Thanks for the reply, I figured it was probably a long shot but worth a try as i genuinely was led to believe that i needed PPI.... how young and dumb i was, back then i didnt think someone in a bank told lies :o

This is by no means a guaranteed rejection, but if you were unemployed at the time how did you make the repayments?

Why do you think they told lies, of course they didnt, they offered you PPI, you would have signed for it to say yes please.

I got the impression that you did actually know you had it but didnt realise what the implications were till your mum explained it to you.

You might as well give it a shot, you can only lose the price of a stamp.
