hi everyone, i have had bt broadband option 3 for the last 16 months and have my line rental with bt also and i pay £133.00 quarterly for this. i have my calls charged through utilty warehouse and on average i pay £13.00 each month, i am keen to reduce these bills and have searched through most of the suggested good packages around but i seem to end up getting a lheadache and quite confused with it all and am no better off, i wondered if some kind soul could possibly offer advice as to a high user broadband option but low phone usage. many many thanks in advance

£133/quarter seems very expensive for BT landline rental and broadband. Are you willing to post some detail showing how that amount is arrived at?
As a guide, only making the 'required' 6 calls per quarter via BT, my quarterly BT charges are:
Line rental (BT Together Option 1) - £32.25
BT Total Broadband Option 1 - xxxxxxx£53.97 Callsxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx£ 0.33
Including VAT, that's a total of - xx£86.55
How are you spending another £47/quarter on broadband rental - the difference between Option 3 and Option 1 is only £9/month (i.e. £27/quarter)?
With regard to call costs, as you have (sensibly) left your line rental with BT, all you have to do is move who you make your calls through. I assume UW is a standard CPS service and, as such, it should just be a case of signing up with another CPS provider - the new provider will tell BT you're changing and BT will tell UW you're leaving. Beware - you'll probably then get 'please stay' pleading phone calls and/or letters from UW.

If you have only got your calls with the Utility Warehouse, and no other products your save the £21+ a year membership fee by changing to a cheaper supplier.
£21 a year will buy you approx 35 calls to 01/02 numbers a month on https://www.18185.co.uk0 -
Or an infinite number of UK 01/02 calls of less than 90 minutes any evening or weekend via Primus Saver Option 2.billsavings wrote: ȣ21 a year will buy you approx 35 calls to 01/02 numbers a month on www.18185.co.ukTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
