Ally, sorry to hear about the house fire! Sounds awful taking out a whole street!

The fire just destroyed our flat; the street was falling down of it's own accord! The whole area is being re-developed. It's old ship-builders accommodation and no longer habitable. :rotfl:

Morning alley! Ha ha we're moving partners MSE stylie!

    Indeed we are! :j

Found a good tip today: when you are packing plates if you happen to have any disposable plates (polystyrene or paper) interleve each ceramic plate with a disposable one for added protection. Like this: http://thefrugalgirls.com/2012/07/how-to-safely-pack-plates-for-moving.html

    2) Source a few big boxes to prepare for packaging for LPs

I've always found Farmfoods and B&M Home Bargains willing to give away cardboard boxes; whereas Tesco were singularly unhelpful.

  • Good afternoon folks. Early-ish post for me today. Took the day off to get paperwork and things sorted round the house.

    Today I:
    • Checked Bank
    • Made PAD
    • parcelled up EB parcels
    • withdrew money from Paypal
    • went shopping without meal plan but still stayed under budget
    • Budgeted for October
    • List another few items on EB
    • Filled in school holiday club forms and noticed I get a day free if kids have a playpass card from their school :T
    Also still to do:
    • return books to library
    • call CC company and see if they will extend intrest free period to let me transfer more. I've got 6 months left on this one and would like to make use of it but if they won't do it then I'll apply for a new one elsewhere.
    • Sort out paperwork into companies and file them accordingly - I'm coming out in hives at the thought of everything being mixed up :p
Hope everyone is having a lovely day so far

Thanks for the tip! In the end I was laden down with toilet roll, bubble wrap, and brown paper, so didn't look for boxes.
We have a Nisa being fitted out locally so I might give them a shot first, they have boxes upon boxes in their skip but it was tipping it down today....

In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work
