Tuesday 25th September - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
So here's my news in brief: In Feb our housing association offered us a better house as our street is being demolished and we'd had a house fire the previous Dec. This was delayed. Now they are hoping to be able to re-house us in 4-6 weeks. We will have a garden to grow veg in!
As our street is being demolished they'll give us £1800 to re-locate. Our idea is to spend as little as possible on the move and the rest on debt payments. So my posts today are about moving DFW-style:
#Most of packing was done in Feb. Used cardboard boxes we go free from Freecycle and donated packing tape. Flat has looked like Box-Ville since Feb.
#Partner to buy more tape from £ Shop today as we've had to re-open some boxes since Feb. Not done. Partner feeling poorly.
#Need to do a new moving budget. Done.
#Look at Freecycle for anything we need for the move. Done.
#Might have found someone who wants to give us their old freezer for nothing; but may have to turn it down if it's too big.
Time for work!

Morning chaps! Quick post before dashing off to work

So far:- breakfast from stores
- made packed lunches for work for DH and self
- fed and watered chickens
- resisted washing up for another day - blinking water meters!!!
- checked banking - still no BGas refund
- two chicken portions taken out of freezer to defrost
- get lift to and from work with a colleague
- check for surveys throughout the day
- drink free coffee/water at work
- knit at lunchtime to avoid going out
- HM chicken curry for dinner
- try to persuade DH we don't really want to go out to a club meeting tonight - I know it's a marketing opportunity but I'm not really in the mood and it means buying drinks etc

- LSD - just milk and bread (and maybe an almond croissant
)
Luckily DH is doing some temp work this week. It may last five days or five weeks; we never know! If it is a few weeks we may be able to get the chimney lined - one step towards fitting the Rayburn I bought over a year ago

Morning!
My DFW day started at 7.15 when I had the lightbulb go off that I should buy some record cleaner and protective sleeves if I'm going to sell off my vinyl collection.
So to earn money, I spent £15. Always the way isn't it?
Plans for today:
1) Restore Nano to sell (have already sold daughter's for her, my turn now)
2) Source a few big boxes to prepare for packaging for LPs
3) pack up boxset that will sell tonight
4) Teach from 4.30 onwards
5) Buy lunchbox crisps and bubblewrap from Home Bargains
6) Tidy house as it is MANKY due to hoover dying a fortnight ago and Argos vouchers still not arriving in post!
Have a good DFW day !!!!

In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work0 -

Hi everyone :hello:
How are we all?
DNMS - how did the sewing class go? I can imagine it's a bit nervewracking. I always want to go to a knitting group that I know meets round the corner from me but a bit nervy… It's getting to be more of a pull now though because I can't really knit at home with the puppy getting excited and nicking my yarn! I end up hiding out in my bedroom, which isn't the best…
Ziggy - you haven't been well recently at all. Hope it is finally passing and you can start feeling like yourself again. :grouphug:
Hope everyone else is a-ok…
Here's me:
Home made soup for lunch
Transferred money around - yay for payday :T - ££ to yoga a/c, some to 'virtual sealed pot', which hasn't been very sealed recently… and PAD
Look out for a cheque that's apparently in the post… - not yet…
Look out for expenses that are apparently being paid… - not yet…
Bought yeserday's croissant for 30p from bakery
Free cuppa in work - no £2 a pop at the coffee shop for me
Not going to the pub tonight… honest… I will resist!!! Too much to do at home.
'Encouraged' OH to apply for a job I found for him
Put any pennies lying around in the pot
Washing on quick wash x 2
Wrote out a 'to do/to buy' list and will work though it along with a little mini budget for this month…
Happy Tuesday everyone :beer:0 -
La E it was good although I am a little disappointed in my pack it didn't tell me to bring a pattern and some material! So in the end after about an hour I thought it would be better for me to leave and get on with some of the other things I need to do! Got all of the job appl done apart from the supporting statement so ended up not being too bad!
Now just wondering where I will fit in finding the pattern and some (frugal) material!
The people were all very welcomign though. I reckon go on and go to the group you can always leave if its rubbish :rotfl:DF as at 30/12/16

Hey all.
Long time no write! I've had a rough start to the week, so disappeared for a bit yesterday. I found out I'm being made redundant in the next 2 months so am getting my head round that. It wasn't unexpected, big restructure and I've suspected for a while. I also get a decent payout so that is helpful.
Today I have/will:
- eyes open for opportunities
- clicks and searches
- Not spend too much - had coffee with friend
- list all my questions about redundancy etc
- keep positive (i'm eerily calm, which for someone as hyper emotional as me is weird, but good)
- work out where to put money to make the most of it
Not a big list, but still here and trying!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us Ally, sorry to hear about the house fire! Sounds awful taking out a whole street!
DNMS - Hope your DS is ok.
Stitchy - Fingers crossed your DH gets more than just a few days work.
La e - How's your pup doing these days? You should go along to the knitting group one night & see if you like it, just go for it!
Today's plan:-- Food from stores
- Leftovers for lunch
- Make use of free water at work
- Make full use of the free fruit available from work, yay!
- Making use of the free pedometer in the goodie bag I was given in yesterday's meeting
- Stay in for my lunchbreak to avoid spending
- Log calories using free app
- Charged phone at work
- Check online banking
- Must try & do a survey or 2
- Must declutter a bit & do some flylady as there's lots in need of doing
- DH doing overtime this evening
- Dinner from stores? Or a tasty treat from the Chinese...:o
- Free exercise on my pole tonight
- Study
- Washing on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid
- Hang up to dry
