If I call TC today when will my payments change?

Our income is drastically reducing this year as I'm leaving work to be a SAHM. I'm on maternity leave at the minute but obviously need to let them know we're not expect as much money this year. Obviously the new year starts today so if I called them today to tell them our expected income for the coming year when would our payments change?

hiya it usually takes a few weeks for the payments to change im not too sure if they stop the payments whilst its going through to re assess your amount but they did with me then you get a back payment of the money owed to you hth

Phone with your income estimates for yourself and partner if you haven't already (for the whole tax year from April 06 - April 07, using a March 07 wage slip the figure you need would be 'total taxable pay to date' or similar) as they will be using your 06/07 estimates to pay your provisional 07/08 payments until you get your renewal pack through. If your estimates are lower than the ones already held by Tax Credits, your payments should increase. It usually takes two days for a change of circumstance to go through and payments to be changed.
EDIT - Not sure if you'll be able to give 07/08 estimates yet, we were told the systems were being taken offline for up to 5 days from tomorrow in order to upgrade system to include new tax year details!0 -
They know our correct 06/07 estimate as I updated them back at the beginning of feb when I called to let them know I'd had another baby. Will call them next week with the 07/08 estimates to give them time to catch up.

Thanks to you both.
