new installed shower tray drain slowly!

Eastender

Hi All,
Just had a new shower installed with a slim shower tray which comes with fast flow shower waste with a 70mm flexi pipe.
When we have a shower, with half the flow of the shower, water gathers around the tray and then overflows on the floor.
The plumber did fit a 1.5" waste pipe with a slope.
Not sure what the problem is?

You've had advice elsewhere .
No further ahead?0 -
maybe that's cause no one there knew what they were talking about, 70mm is the depth of the water seal in the trap NOT the outlet or pipe size.I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
I agree with southcoastrgi. The diameter of Eastender's flexible pipe is almost certainly 40mm.
There should be water in the trap at all times, so when you say you pour water down there and it doesn't all drain away that is normal. There will be water in your Kitchen Sink Trap, Bath and Hand Basins, so don't worry over that.
I would say it has either been installed incorrectly (not enough slope on the pipe, or the flexi pipe is plumbed into a pipe that is too small down the line) or that you have a blockage down the line that is preventing the water from draining.
If it were me I would probably get a second plumber in to have a look. It is likely to be a simple enough fix, but may want a second pair of professional eyes.0 -

With all due respect that lets the first guy right off the hook. Not only should he should be addressing it under warranty at no cost to the OP but he must be given the opportunity to fix it.. A second person will rightly charge so OP will be out of pocket which is wrong.
It doesn't sound as if the first set of eyes was particularly professional TBH.
Cheers
I agree 100%, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. By the sounds of it the plumber has already been back once. I would always get the original tradesman back, as 1, they deserve a chance to fix it and 2, it will be at no cost to yourself.
But if he can't do something as basic as making a shower drain correctly on 2 attempts, then (me personally anyway) I would ditch him and get someone who knows what they are doing.0 -
You could be correct but there is no evidence of two visits on this thread. I have not read the thread on the other place in the context of this thread. If OP wants to impart further data here thats fine.

Nah, he'll be down the local Brazilian bar with the painter:o:oI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Stupid bloody things. Bet its got a kink in it. He should have thrown the flexi away and done it in solid. Trouble is that the screw thread onto the trap will probably be continental (something in the order of 60mm) so UK fittings aren't compatible. But an adapter can be fitted.
Installer's c o cked it up thats what. Fetch him back to sort it out.
Cheers
Totally agree, even if fitted right they create too much friction and every bit of crud gets caught up.
Quite possibly blocked, with grout/tile cement residue.
Employing a 2nd trades person kind of negates the whole point of using cheap foreign trade doesnt' it OP?.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Thanks fellas for your replies.
He did come back but blamed the design of waste as being too small and slim tray for not holding enough water. He is comming back again next week for another plumbing job that needs attention, which he had completed. I'll ask him again to look into the shower tray.
It seems he is not very skilled and if it does not slove the problem, then I would need to get 2nd opinion and incur further cost:(. To be fair, he does answer phone calls and returns if we have any problems.
It's frustrating to install a new shower and not being able to enjoy it as water accumulates quickly. Not sure my choice of a slim shower tray is a wise one:(
I'll ask him to remove the front panel with a blade to cut the sealant and look underneath again. it must be he joined the supplied flexi pipe to something small, as someone mentioned or blocked with grout/others.
Can I purchase a bigger flexi pipe to aid drainage?.0
