Someone should tell the Food Standards Agency to bog off. Nanny is no longer required, thank you.
  • We buy the multipacks and have noticed this too.
Can't stop buying them though as we are addicted
to the cheese and onion :D
  • The seabrooks crisps for 6 are £1 at Sainsburys I know size is smaller but still cheaper than many other places
  • Calories? Having one bag of crisps isn't going to hurt at all. You be suprised they aren't always the problem if you are watching your calories! You could have several bags before it equals the amount of calories you had with your sandwich for lunch!

McCoys crisps multi packs are on offer 3 or 4 times a year at tescos as bogofs making them less than a quid per pack of 6 with each bag coming in at around 32g.
Also have noticed you can guy Golden Wonders from Home Bargains for 20p each and they weigh more than McCoys.
As long as these don't get downsized I'm happy. I gave up on Seabrooks long ago when they stopped producing the best crisps of all time - Seabrooks Straight Cuts Cheese And Onion.
  • Yeah, Seabrooks used to be a champion amoungst crisps - once they introduced the foil pack and you couldn't "see what you buy" they went all Walkers on us and edged towards only a few crisps (more easily broken too due to the pack) rattling around in there.

It's no longer "more than a snack" as they used to proclaim they really sold out.

One more classic crisp variety thats been lost probably due to getting marketing guys involved and the big business pressure of trying to fit in with the supermarket game. Bollo :(

They used to be my favourite crisps - the sea salt, crisps and flavours used to be legendary and made them butty shop essentials - but now the crisps suck and whoever is in charge of the flavours needs their taste buds sorting out - I can't buy them. I tried a pack again a couple of months ago in case things had changed but they are still a disappointment now. It's for this reason that their new slogan of "Once tasted, loved forever" really bugs me. Yes I did love the crisps how they used to be but unless I get a time machine - I can't get them any more.

Favourite Seabrook flavour: Used to be Prawn Cocktail -
(the nearest crisp available now to how the Seabrooks Prawn Cocktail used to taste are McCoys sizzling king prawn).

I emailed them as i find it disgusting that they giving less and still want the same price and heres the reply i got

(In recent years we have incurred unprecedented increases in our costs of produce like potatoes, sunflower oil and flavourings while the prices in the shops have remained the same. As a small British manufacturer in a very competitive marketplace we are trying to find ways to absorb some of this extra cost and ensure we have a strong, sustainable business. We are also determined to keep our crisps affordable in these very difficult economic times and have ensured that we continue to offer single bags in a 31.8g pack size while following many other food manufacturers by reducing the bag size in our multipacks. We do hope you appreciate the reasons for the change and will remain a loyal Seabrook consumer.

Additionally, in line with the Food Standard Agency's desire to see reduced bag sizes on crisps of 5-10g, this will typically mean that our new 25g bag of crisps will contain, on average, over 20 calories fewer per pack than the existing 30g bags.

    Kind Regards.)

What a load of carp!!:rotfl:So it's OK to get fat eating single bags but not if you buy multipacks.

I enjoy their sea salt ones but I won't pay more than £1 for a 150g (either as multipack or big bag) of any branded crisps. I stroll along the crisp aisle and if there's something in my price range that I like I buy some. If there's not I save even more calories!!

Farmfoods sell them for £1 but unfortunately only flavoured (beef and prawn cocktail I think).
