Seabrooks Crisps multipacks have shrunk!

I bought three multipacks today as I usually do, as they are normally three for x amount in Asda. Today they were three for £3.50 but they have been three for £3.00 before now.

I am really very disappointed to discover that instead of containing six 31.8g bags, they now contain six 25g bags and they are no cheaper.

This is a real shame, I always bought these because they are good crisps and you got full size bags in the multipacks unlike other manufacturers, now they have gone the same way as everyone else.

Booo to Seabrooks! :(

Home Bargains and Poundworld (not Poundland) have multipacks of 7 for 99p. They are 25g too.
  • If I get over my annoyance over them changing the pack size then I'll get them from Home Bargains in future.

I don't think there are any multipacks where you get a proper size bag of crisps left now that Seabrooks have gone the same way as everyone else.

I emailed them as i find it disgusting that they giving less and still want the same price and heres the reply i got

(In recent years we have incurred unprecedented increases in our costs of produce like potatoes, sunflower oil and flavourings while the prices in the shops have remained the same. As a small British manufacturer in a very competitive marketplace we are trying to find ways to absorb some of this extra cost and ensure we have a strong, sustainable business. We are also determined to keep our crisps affordable in these very difficult economic times and have ensured that we continue to offer single bags in a 31.8g pack size while following many other food manufacturers by reducing the bag size in our multipacks. We do hope you appreciate the reasons for the change and will remain a loyal Seabrook consumer.

Additionally, in line with the Food Standard Agency's desire to see reduced bag sizes on crisps of 5-10g, this will typically mean that our new 25g bag of crisps will contain, on average, over 20 calories fewer per pack than the existing 30g bags.

    Kind Regards.)
  • Yeah I noticed this week, shame as I like them but the smaller packs you get hardly any in.
  • Their prices have been increasing over the past few years and the saving of 20 cals in laughable.

    Time to switch I think.

i know i opened a bag today and was like what the hell its less than half empty it wouldnt be bad if they made the bags smaller but filled it up
  • I would rather they'd put their prices up a bit and kept the larger bags, those 25g bags are pathetic.

Walkers have some new crunchy crinkled crisps for 6 @ £1 on offer most supermarkets they are 28g bags. They quite nice especially the meaty flavour. Bags though appear about 40% full. Crisps must be quite heavier than normal size crisps

Yes but then we'd notice the reduction and that's what all these manufacturers don't want. Seabrook's reference to making the packs less calorific made me laugh.
