Switch vs house move - still cashback?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can use a 'switch' site to actually set up a new account during a house move? I know that the previous tenants were with British Gas, but would like to use Scottish Power (and get cashback doing it!) for dual fuel. Presumably British Gas is still supplying us (we moved in a few days ago), addressing the bill to 'tenant' or some such. We had BG in the previous place, as well.

I'm just not sure if I can technically 'switch' or if I have to set up as a new customer?

Many thanks for any help,
-s

You are absolutely correct, British Gas are currently supplying you. You need to contact them and arrange a new account to be set up in your name.

Then you can switch supplier, getting any cashback on offer

A switch of supplier typically takes 4-6 weeks from date of application
